I am using Home Assistant Green + ZBT-2 for ZHA and this TS0601 device did not expose a standard Zigbee On/Off cluster through ZHA so I have to use custom Quirk as the physical relay state came through the Tuya manufacturer MCU cluster. Without a quirk my Home Assistant showed diagnostic entities only. Home Assistant had no way to control the wall-switch relay.
The custom quirk maps the Tuya relay datapoint to a Home Assistant switch entity. It uses the ZHA v2 TuyaQuirkBuilder.
Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback and technical findings.
We’re sorry to hear the switch did not expose a standard On/Off entity in your Home Assistant ZHA setup. This model is a Tuya-based Zigbee switch, and depending on the coordinator and integration used, some Tuya TS0601 devices may expose the relay state through manufacturer-specific Tuya MCU data points rather than a standard Zigbee On/Off cluster.
The product page mentions Home Assistant and Zigbee2MQTT compatibility, however we do not currently advertise this model as specifically tested with ZHA. The manual also focuses on setup through Smart Life/Tuya Zigbee gateway pairing rather than ZHA.
We appreciate you confirming that a custom ZHA quirk using TuyaQuirkBuilder allowed the relay datapoint to be mapped correctly to a Home Assistant switch entity. This is useful information for other advanced Home Assistant users.
For customers using Home Assistant, we currently recommend confirming compatibility with their chosen Zigbee integration before purchase. Zigbee2MQTT is generally the preferred option for broader Tuya Zigbee device support, while ZHA compatibility may depend on whether a suitable quirk is available.
Thank you again for taking the time to explain your setup and solution.
Do your homework in these devices as they won’t work cleanly and reveal the switching entity with ZHA. Advice from researching has been received from Home Assistant AU / NZ forum that one must utilise Zigbee to MQTT integration and coordinator. I’m following up on a Matter option instead. Do your own checking prior to purchase.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We’re sorry the switch did not integrate with your Home Assistant ZHA setup as expected. As noted on the product page, this model supports Home Assistant through Zigbee2MQTT; compatibility and the entities exposed can vary when using other Zigbee integrations and coordinators.
You may try resetting the switch by pressing and holding the button for approximately 10 seconds until the LED indicator begins flashing, confirming that the reset was successful.
Once reset, pair the switch with your hub/coordinator again and check whether it functions correctly.
If you continue to experience issues, please email help@ozsmartthings.com.au with details of your Zigbee coordinator and Home Assistant setup. Our team will be happy to assist.
