How It Works

- The Garage Roller Limit Switch is positioned to detect when the door reaches the required open or closed position.

The limit switch is a passive contact and requires a compatible binary-input module or controller to report position status. A separate binary sensor is not included unless expressly stated in the product listing.

The Shelly device works very well and I am impressed with it, just a small note to remember is that if you get a power outage and the power comes back on, it triggers the Shelly device so if the door is closed it will open and if it is opened it will close. as for the lever switch to indicate if the door is open or closed, this is a waste of time as you need to buy additional sensors for this to work, you also have to buy a power source for the Shelly device. so much for buying a kit.
Wifi Garage Door Opener
The Shelly is a wifi relay switch that works as either 240V or 12V - in this application works as 12V so you need to have a 240V to 12V transformer. The Limit switch is difficult to install and I ended up abandoning using the mechanical switch in favour of a Reed Magnetic Switch - much easier to install!

A friend in the states wrote his own simple app to control his household, he's got limit switches, and wires and raspberry pi's everywhere....AND, a load of these SHELLY 1 devices also.
I purchased a couple to control my garage doors here in Oz...I'm impressed so far , gonna buy more devices to control and monitor pool pumps, and , and, and, and....and i'll be buying from these guys also, well priced and quick delivery!
