Why is my Shelly device not recognizing the Shelly LoRa add-on?
Check that the LoRa add-on is securely mounted to a compatible Shelly Gen3 or Gen4 device. Also confirm that the host Shelly device is running firmware version 1.6 or later and that the add-on is correctly connected to the Shelly proprietary serial interface.
Do all Shelly devices need their own LoRa add-on?
For the simplest and most reliable setup, each Shelly device that needs LoRa communication should have its own LoRa add-on. However, custom scripting can allow a Shelly device with a LoRa add-on to act as a gateway and forward data from other devices, including selected BLU devices via Bluetooth.
Can the Shelly LoRa add-on support multiple devices?
Yes. It supports flexible communication topologies including one-to-one, one-to-many, many-to-one, and many-to-many configurations. To maintain reliability, avoid having multiple devices transmit at exactly the same time, as this can cause radio collisions.
Can I still use the normal Shelly device functions with the LoRa add-on installed?
Yes. The host Shelly device can still operate as a standard Shelly device while also acting as a LoRa communication point.
What is LoRa's spreading factor?
The LoRa spreading factor controls the trade-off between range, data speed, and airtime. Lower spreading factors provide faster communication over shorter distances, while higher spreading factors increase range but reduce message speed and frequency.
Can Shelly LoRa add-ons communicate with Shelly Pro LoRa add-ons?
