Preview the future of voice technology today with its advanced audio processor, dual microphones, and premium tactile design that blends into any home environment.

Key Messages

Note: Voice Preview Edition requires Home Assistant to operate. Weaker hardware may lead to slower speech processing. Users with lower-power setups should consider offloading speech processing to Home Assistant Cloud.

Built for Home Assistant: The first voice hardware designed by the creators of Home Assistant, offering seamless integration and unmatched compatibility.

Preview the Future of Voice: Experience Home Assistant’s cutting-edge, privacy-focused voice technology. Participate in its ongoing development and preview the future today.

Easy Setup: Simply connect to USB-C power (cable and power supply not included) and follow an intuitive installation wizard. No assembly required.

Privacy at Its Core: Operates fully locally when paired with powerful Home Assistant hardware or utilizes the privacy-focused Home Assistant Cloud for speech processing. Includes a hardware mute switch for added peace of mind.

Language Support: Assist aims to support more languages than other voice assistants. Check Home Assistant’s Assist documentation for updates and contribute to its growth.

Advanced Audio Processing: Dual microphones and an XMOS audio processor ensure clear voice recognition, even in noisy environments.

Feedback in Real-Time: A multicolored LED ring indicates listening status, volume, and more. The built-in speaker provides sensor readings, timers, and feedback, with the option to connect an external speaker via a 3.5mm jack.

Tactile and Customizable Controls: A rotary dial adjusts volume and LED brightness, while the multifunction button triggers Assist or can be customized within Home Assistant.

Elegant Design: Compact, injection-molded construction with tactile controls gives a premium look and feel that blends effortlessly into the home.

Expandable Features: Built on ESPHome, the device supports added sensors via a Grove port and can be easily modified thanks to open software, firmware, and hardware.

    Complete fail.

Doesn't work at all. Can't hear me. Can't understand my voice. Doesn't work without speaking almost directly at it.

    Thank you for your feedback.

Here are some troubleshooting steps to help resolve issues where your Home Assistant Voice Preview Edition (“Voice PE”) can't hear you, doesn’t understand your voice, or only responds when you're speaking right next to it:

    1. Microphone & Wake Word Sensitivity

Many users report that the Voice PE only responds when speaking very close — often less than 1 meter away — and sometimes only in loud tones. This behavior may be due to hardware limitations of the XMOS chip and the built-in microphone array.

    https://community.home-assistant.io/t/home-assistant-voice-preview-edition-weak-mic/814551/5

Some solve this by switching to custom wake-word systems like openwakeword, which tend to perform better than default models.

    2. Check Mute Status & Network URL

If the device shows a red status light and is unresponsive, it may be muted. Make sure the physical mute switch on the device is off (unmuted).

Confirm that Home Assistant’s Local Network URL is correctly configured:
User Profile → Settings → System → Network → Local Network Home Assistant URL

In complex setups (e.g. VLANs, Docker), setting this explicitly (not just 'automatic') often resolves connectivity issues.

    3. 3. Adjust Audio Sensitivity & Gain

Use the ESPhome add-on to tweak audio settings for better voice capture:

In Home Assistant, go to Settings → Add-ons → ESPHome and open the Web UI.

Adopt your Voice PE device and open its configuration.yaml.

Add or adjust parameters under voice_assistant:

Increase noise_suppression_level (up to 4) to filter ambient noise.

Boost auto_gain and volume_multiplier to improve sensitivity — but be careful of distortion if set too high.

    4. Verify Assist Pipeline and TTS Flow

If completed commands don’t result in an audible response, check the Assist debug logs:

Confirm the full pipeline is completing (STT → Intent → TTS).

If the device lights cycle but there’s no sound, it may be a network or playback issue.

    5. Factory reset the device and test again.

    6. If you still encounter the same issue: We recommend contacting the Home Assistant Green support team (Nabu Casa) directly. You can reach them via email at green@home-assistant.io, as they have access to the necessary tools to investigate the errors more thoroughly.

just put a price on it

this quote shit is a big red flag, does that mean your going to state a high price and see how low you have to go untill i buy it? im not fulling out ya bullshit form and waiting for an email, you just lost a guaranteed sale buddy

We appreciate your feedback, but we’re not quite sure what tactics you’re referring to. The item you inquired about is currently on pre-order because we don’t have stock available at the moment. When an item is out of stock and placed on pre-order, our system automatically puts orders on hold as a special order and, unfortunately, also removes the displayed price which we are unable to bypass when an order is in special order due to system restrictions.

All customers who have emailed us regarding this product have received the same quote and estimated arrival time (ETA) for pricing, so we’re unsure where the concern about negotiation tactics is coming from. If you requested a quotation via email on the 29th (which was a weekend), it would have been answered on the next business day (Monday)—with the same pricing as any other customer who inquired.
