LK730 OBD GPS Tracker – Setup and User Guide
This guide explains how to install, activate and use the LK730 OBD GPS Tracker. For the best results, complete each step in order.
1. What You Will Need
- LK730 OBD GPS Tracker
- Activated Micro SIM card
- Mobile data and SMS services enabled on the SIM
- Your SIM provider’s APN details
- A vehicle with an available OBD port
- A mobile phone for sending SMS commands
Before installation:
- Disable the SIM card PIN before inserting it into the tracker.
- Make sure the SIM has sufficient credit or an active mobile plan.
- Confirm that the SIM and network are compatible with the tracker.
- Switch off the vehicle before installing the tracker.
2. Insert the SIM Card
- Open the cover of the LK730.
- Insert the activated Micro SIM card in the correct orientation.
- Make sure the SIM card is firmly seated.
- Close the cover securely.
The SIM card must support mobile data and SMS. The supplied manual also refers to GSM/GPRS service, so please confirm network compatibility with your mobile provider.
3. Connect the Tracker to Your Vehicle
- Locate your vehicle’s OBD port. It is normally underneath the dashboard near the steering column.
- With the vehicle switched off, plug the LK730 firmly into the OBD port.
- Switch on the vehicle.
- Allow the tracker time to connect to the mobile network and obtain a satellite location.
For the best first-time GPS connection, move the vehicle outdoors to an open area away from buildings, covered parking and other obstructions.

4. Set the Administrator Number
The administrator number is the authorised phone number used to control the tracker through SMS.
Send the following SMS to the SIM card installed in the tracker:

5. Configure the APN
The APN allows the tracker to connect to your mobile provider’s data network.

Replace telstra.internet with the APN supplied by your SIM provider. If you do not know the correct APN, contact your mobile provider.
6. Check the Tracker’s Location
Send either of the following SMS commands:

The tracker should reply with its current position or a Google Maps location link.
If no location is returned:
- Move the vehicle outdoors.
- Allow several minutes for the first satellite connection.
- Check that the SIM card is active.
- Confirm that mobile data and SMS are available.
- Verify that the APN is correct.
7. Set the Location Upload Frequency
To set how often the tracker reports its location, send:

The manual specifies an available range of 10–180 seconds.
Successful reply:
Shorter intervals provide more frequent tracking but may use more mobile data.
8. Movement and Sleep Settings
Movement or vibration sleep mode is enabled by default.

Troubleshooting
The Tracker Does Not Start
- Confirm that it is firmly connected to the OBD port.
- Check whether the vehicle’s OBD port is supplying power.
- Test it with the vehicle ignition switched on.
- Inspect the tracker and connector for visible damage.
The Tracker Cannot Obtain a Location
- Move the vehicle outdoors to an open area.
- Avoid testing inside a garage or underneath a metal roof.
- Allow several minutes for the first GPS fix.
- Restart the tracker by sending

The Tracker Does Not Reply to SMS Commands
- Confirm that you are sending the message to the correct SIM number.
- Make sure the SIM can send and receive SMS.
- Check that the SIM has sufficient credit or an active plan.
- Confirm that the SIM PIN has been disabled.
- Check mobile-network coverage.
- Enter each command exactly as shown, including spaces.
Online Tracking Is Not Working
- Verify the APN entered for your mobile provider.
- Confirm that mobile data is active on the SIM.
- Check that the tracker has mobile-network coverage.
- Confirm that you have the correct tracking-platform details.
Care and Safety
- Keep the tracker dry and away from moisture.
- Do not expose it to extreme heat or cold.
- Do not drop, shake or strike the device.
- Clean it only with a soft, dry cloth.
- Do not use chemical cleaners or detergents.
- Do not paint, open, modify or disassemble the device.
- Make sure the tracker does not obstruct pedals, steering components or normal vehicle operation.
- Follow applicable privacy and vehicle-tracking laws and inform vehicle users where required.
