How to Set Up Your Matter Smart Downlight

Matter makes it easier to control compatible smart-home devices across multiple platforms. Your Matter smart downlight can be added using the Matter QR code or numerical setup code supplied with the product.

Before You Begin

Before starting, make sure:

  • Your phone is connected to a 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
  • Bluetooth is enabled on your phone.
  • Your phone, Matter controller and downlight are within reliable network range.
  • The downlight is switched on.
  • You have the Matter QR code or numerical setup code ready.
  • Your preferred smart-home app is updated to the latest version.

Important: Keep a copy of the Matter QR code and setup code. You may need them again if the downlight is reset or added to another platform.

How to Put the Downlight Into Pairing Mode

When powered on for the first time, the downlight should automatically enter pairing mode. The light will begin pulsing or “breathing” to indicate that it is ready to connect.

If the downlight does not begin pulsing, reset it as follows:

  1. Switch the downlight on and off five times.
  2. Allow approximately three seconds between each power cycle.
  3. After the fifth cycle, leave the downlight switched on.
  4. Wait for the light to begin pulsing or breathing.

The downlight is now ready to be added to your preferred Matter-compatible platform.

A compatible Apple home hub, such as a HomePod mini, may be required for full functionality and remote control.

Once connected, press and hold the downlight’s tile in the Home app to access its available controls.
