Matter Smart Light Switch User Manual

This manual applies to the Matter smart light switch range, including 1-gang, 2-gang, 3-gang, 4-gang, 5-gang and 6-gang wall switches.


Important safety warning: This product must be installed by a licensed electrical contractor. Turn off mains power before installation, wiring, repair, removing the glass panel, or changing DIP switch settings. This product is for indoor use only and must not be overloaded.

Installation overview

  1. Turn off mains power before installation.
  2. Open the front cover using a small flat screwdriver
  3. Connect wiring to the correct terminals and tighten the screws.
  4. Fix the wall switch using the supplied screws or suitable cross-shaped flat-head screws.
  5. Do not overtighten the screws. Overtightening may deform the housing and stop the switch from working correctly.
  6. After fitting the glass panel, check that it is tightly attached to the bottom shell.
  7. Turn mains power back on only after the panel is securely fitted.
Touch testing note: If testing the switch without the glass panel fitted, turn off mains power again before refitting the glass panel. Then turn mains power back on after the panel is installed correctly.

Wiring and 2-way / multi-way switching notes

Wiring must be completed by a licensed electrician. Use the terminal markings on the switch and the wiring diagram supplied with the product.

  • All Active connections must be on the same phase.
  • Maximum supported multi-way configuration is up to 5-way switching.
  • Total length of S-COM and Active loop: maximum 50 m.
  • Control cable and load cable must not be coupled together.
  • The DIP switch must be turned on to activate the 2-way function.
  • Turn off mains power before toggling the DIP switch. DIP switch changes will not activate while power is on.

Connect to Smart Life (or Tuya) app

Make sure your mobile phone is connected to a 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network. Your phone and smart switch should be within good Wi-Fi signal range of your router.

  1. Download the Smart Life app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open Smart Life. Register a new account, or log in with your existing account.
  3. Once the switch has been safely installed and powered on, press the on/off button five times quickly, then hold the button for 5 seconds until the buttons blink rapidly.
  4. In Smart Life, tap the + icon in the top-right corner.
  5. Select Electrician > Switch (BLE + Wi-Fi), or turn on mobile Bluetooth and allow the app to search for the device automatically.
  6. Enter your 2.4GHz Wi-Fi password and follow the app prompts until setup is complete.
  7. Once added, you can turn each gang on/off from the app. 

Method 2:

  1. Download the Smart Life app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  2. Open Smart Life. Register a new account, or log in with your existing account.
  3. Once the switch has been safely installed and powered on, press the on/off button five times quickly, then hold the button for 5 seconds until the buttons blink rapidly.
  4. Scan the Matter setup code on the switch and follow the app  prompts to complete setup.

Add to Apple Home using Matter

  1. Make sure your Apple Home hub is set up, such as a HomePod mini or another compatible Matter controller.
  2. Put the switch into pairing mode by pressing the on/off button five times quickly, then holding the button for 5 seconds until the buttons blink rapidly.
  3. Open the Apple Home app.
  4. Tap + and select Add Accessory.
  5. Scan the Matter setup code on the switch and follow the Apple Home prompts to complete setup.

Add to Alexa or Google Assistant

After the switch has been added to Smart Life, it can be linked to compatible voice assistants.

  1. Open the Smart Life app.
  2. Go to Profile > Integration.
  3. Select Alexa or Google Assistant.
  4. Follow the prompts to link your account and discover the device.

Power metering

The power metering function allows you to monitor connected load usage, including current, power, voltage and kWh. Values shown are the total of all gangs on the wall plate and should be used as a reference only.


2-way or 4-way app association (When wired method is not possible)

  1. Open the Smart Life app.
  2. Go to Profile.
  3. Select Multi-Control Association.
  4. Tap + Link with Switch to create the association.

Momentary dimming function

The momentary function is used when the smart switch is connected to a compatible smart dimmer module.

  1. Connect the smart switch with the compatible smart dimmer module.
  2. Open the app settings and enable the Momentary Switch function.
  3. Touch to turn on/off. Long press to dim.

Other app functions

  • Adjust RGB backlight colour
  • Enable child lock
  • Turn backlight on or off
  • Select dark or light theme
  • Create schedules
  • View electrical usage information

Power-On State Recommendation:

If the switch occasionally resets to the OFF state, set the Power-On State to Restore Last State in the device settings. This is the recommended configuration and helps prevent unexpected resets after power interruptions or similar events. 

Warranty

This product includes a 12-month warranty as standard. The warranty covers manufacturing defects that arise from correct use of the device. It is limited to defects in materials.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by abuse, misuse, unauthorised modification, power surge, extreme heat or cold, corrosive environments, normal wear and tear on covers, cases, housings, connectors or accessories, or products with missing, altered or defaced serial numbers.
