How to Re-Add Your Personal SOS Tracker to the Tuya App After Removal

At Oz Smart Things, we’ve recently received a number of support requests regarding the Personal SOS Tracker and its connection issues with the Tuya Smart App. Many users have either accidentally removed the device from the app or done so intentionally while troubleshooting—and then struggled to re-add it.

If this sounds familiar, read on. Below, we explain why this happens and provide the exact steps you need to follow to get your SOS tracker working again.


❗ The Problem

When a Personal SOS Tracker is removed from the Tuya App, and the user tries to re-add it, the app often throws an error such as:

“Device not connected to the internet.”

This is confusing—especially since the Aldi SIM (Telstra network) or other mobile SIMs being used have working data, SMS, and call capabilities when tested in a regular mobile phone.

So why the error?

The issue occurs because the device needs to be manually reset in order to re-enter pairing mode. Simply deleting it from the app doesn't fully remove the previous registration, which blocks it from reconnecting.


✅ The Solution: Reset via SMS

To re-add your device to the Tuya App after it has been deleted, follow these simple steps:


Step 1 – Send the Reset Command

Using a mobile phone, send the following SMS command to the SIM number currently inside the SOS tracker:

000000,S03,2013

This command resets the device’s binding with the previous Tuya account and prepares it to be paired again.


Step 2 – Re-Add in the Tuya App

Once the reset command has been successfully sent:

  • Open the Tuya App

  • Select “Add Device”

  • Follow the standard pairing steps as if you're setting it up for the first time

You should now be able to connect the device without any internet errors.
