How to Connect Your Zigbee Relay Puck to Apple HomeKit via Hue and Matter

Some customers have asked how they can integrate their Zigbee relay puck with Apple HomeKit when using a Philips Hue Bridge. Since HomeKit doesn’t natively support every Zigbee device, the trick is to use the Hue Bridge with Matter as the connection point.

Here’s a step-by-step guide (with screenshots) to help you set up your Zigbee relay puck in Apple Home.

Step 1: Open the Hue App and Enable Matter

  1. Open the Hue app on your phone.
  2. Go to SettingsSmart home.
  3. Select Get started under Connect a smart home assistant or device.
  4. Choose Other apps to begin linking your Hue system through Matter.
  5. Tap Get pairing code.
  6. Review the information about what data will be shared, then press Next.
  7. Copy the pairing code shown on the screen (this code refreshes every 15 minutes).

Step 2: Add Hue to Apple Home

  1. Open the Apple Home app.
  2. Tap the “+” button in the top right corner.
  3. Select Add Accessory.
  4. Choose More options... and select your Hue Bridge.
  5. If prompted, select My Accessory Isn’t Shown Here to manually continue.
  6. When asked for a setup code, paste the pairing code from the Hue app.
  7. Tap Continue to finish setup.

Step 3: Discover and Control Your Zigbe Relay Puck

Once the Hue Bridge is linked with Apple Home through Matter, any supported Zigbee devices paired to Hue (such as your Zigbee relay puck) should now appear in your Home app. From there, you can:

  • Switch the relay on/off from HomeKit.
  • Automate it with Apple Home automations.
  • Control it via Siri voice commands.

Tip: If the relay puck doesn’t show up right away, try refreshing your Hue app, or re-pair the puck with the Hue Bridge first before linking with HomeKit.

By following these steps, you’ll be able to seamlessly connect your Zigbee relay puck to Apple HomeKit through the Hue Bridge and Matter, giving you reliable control and integration within your Apple ecosystem.
